We have delivered Kumiko at the front entrance of the new Toyama Prefecture Disaster Prevention and Crisis Management Center, a new base for disaster countermeasures in Toyama Prefecture.
The work was a collaboration with Japanese paper artist Takakuni Kawahara.

Toyama Prefecture is nurtured by the Tateyama mountain range, which is rich in natural beauty. The design was inspired by Toyama’s torrent rivers, where the rain that pours down from the high mountains flows out to the Japan Sea.

We have woven together two traditional crafts to create a work of art that represents Toyama’s forest and water.
